SFTP transfers files between your computer and game server. Use it for large saves or complete folders. It does not provide a command shell on the hosting machine.
Find your SFTP details
- Open your server and go to Settings > SFTP Details.
- Copy the Server Address and complete Username exactly as shown. The username includes the short server ID.
- Use your game panel account password. A separate client portal password will not work unless you set both passwords the same.
Connect with WinSCP
- Create a new site in WinSCP and choose SFTP.
- Enter the host and port from Server Address. For the example sftp://example-host:2022, enter example-host as Host name and 2022 as Port number. Use your actual panel values.
- Enter the full username and game panel password, then connect.
- Verify the host key fingerprint with support before trusting the first connection or an unexpected changed key.
Transfer your files
- Open the destination folder and transfer the files. Stop and back up before replacing a live world.
- Wait until the transfer finishes and check for failed files.
- Start the server if you stopped it, then check Console and test the uploaded content.
If login fails, check the copied address, full username, password, and server access. If uploads fail, check file permissions and free space. Missing SFTP Details can mean the owner needs to grant SFTP access.
