resource.AddWorkshop asks joining players to download an addon’s content. It does not install the addon on the server.
Find the addon IDs
Copy the number after id= from each content addon’s Workshop URL. Use individual addon IDs, not the collection ID. Lua files use a different download system.
Edit workshop.lua
- Open Files > garrysmod/lua/autorun/server/workshop.lua. Use New file in that folder if it is missing.
- Keep existing download entries. Add resource.AddWorkshop("ADDON_ID") for each content addon, replacing ADDON_ID with its numeric ID.
- If the file only contains resource.AddWorkshop(""), replace that empty example line.
- Save and restart. Check Console for Lua syntax errors.
Test player downloads
Join and check custom models, sounds and textures. Workshop maps and supported Workshop gamemodes can already add downloads automatically. Add the other content players need.
If content is missing, check the ID, addon visibility, required items and both server and player console errors.
For server installation, see adding a Workshop collection. For other causes, see missing textures and ERROR models. View GMod server hosting.
