Change your Palworld server’s name and join password in Startup. Use a separate admin password so players do not get admin access just because they know how to join.
Change the Startup fields
- Open your Palworld server and select Startup.
- Enter the name you want in Server Name. Add an optional Server Description.
- Set Server Password for a private server, or leave it empty for public access. Follow the character limits shown under the field.
- Set a different Admin Password and share it only with trusted admins.
- Restart the server. Join in-game and check the displayed name and password prompt.
If a field is missing
The active settings file is Pal/Saved/Config/LinuxServer/PalWorldSettings.ini. A Windows or Proton server uses WindowsServer instead. Editing DefaultPalWorldSettings.ini does not change your live settings.
- Stop the server and wait until it is offline before editing the settings file.
- Find ServerName, ServerDescription, ServerPassword or AdminPassword inside the OptionSettings line. Change only the needed value and leave the surrounding quotes, commas and parentheses intact.
- Save the file and start the server. Reopen it to confirm the change stayed in place.
Use Startup for any value it manages. If a file edit reverts after starting, check the matching Startup field or contact support.
