Simple Voice Chat adds proximity voice chat to Minecraft Java. The server needs the mod or plugin, and each player needs the client mod to talk and listen.
Install the server file
- Download a release from the author’s installation guide that matches your Minecraft version and server software.
- Stop your server. For Fabric, Forge or NeoForge, upload the matching mod JAR to mods. For Paper or Spigot, upload the plugin JAR to plugins.
- Start the server once to generate its configuration. Check Console for any missing dependency or version error.
Use the author’s installation guide and download links. A Paper server still needs players to install the client mod.
Set the voice chat port
Voice chat uses UDP. Ask Konnect support for an available voice chat port and confirmation that UDP is allowed. Use the port assigned to your server. Do not assume the default 24454 is available.
- Stop the server, then open config/voicechat/voicechat-server.properties for a modded server, or plugins/voicechat/voicechat-server.properties for Paper or Spigot.
- Set port to the assigned number. For example, port=25001 only if 25001 was assigned to you. Leave bind_address and voice_host unchanged unless support provides different values.
- Save and start the server. Do not share the voice port with another plugin or Geyser.
The author’s server configuration reference explains these fields.
Connect and test
Players should install a compatible Simple Voice Chat client mod for their game version and loader. Join the server and press V to follow its microphone setup. Different loaders can work together, so a Paper server can use a Fabric client.
If voice chat stays disconnected, check the assigned UDP port and client compatibility first. An administrator with the voicechat.admin permission can run /voicechat test PlayerName in game. Voice chat commands cannot run in panel Console. See the author’s command reference and client setup guide.
