DeathPenalty decides what players drop when they die. You can change that setting without replacing the world.
Choose a death penalty
None means no drops. Item drops inventory items but keeps equipped gear. ItemAndEquipment drops items and equipped gear. All drops items, equipment and the Pals in the player’s team.
Apply the setting
- Open your Palworld server in the Konnect game panel, stop it and wait until it is offline.
- Open Files > Pal/Saved/Config/LinuxServer/PalWorldSettings.ini. A Windows or Proton server uses WindowsServer instead.
- Find DeathPenalty inside the OptionSettings line. Set the exact value you want, for example DeathPenalty=None.
- Leave the other settings and surrounding punctuation intact. Save the file and start the server.
If Startup has a Death Penalty field that manages this value, change it there instead. If the value returns to the old setting after starting, check that field before editing the file again.
Keep related settings separate
bHardcore controls whether a player can respawn. bPalLost controls permanent Pal loss on death. They are separate from DeathPenalty, so do not change them when you only want to adjust what drops.
If an imported world ignores the change, it may have settings in WorldOption.sav. Keep the save intact and ask support to check it. Do not delete world files to test a difficulty change.
You can also change egg hatch time for a different pace of play.
