Use Arix Versions to install Vanilla, Paper, Purpur, Fabric, Forge, NeoForge, proxies, and hybrid software.

Understand the available software

Open Minecraft → Versions to browse supported implementations. Vanilla is the official server; Paper, Purpur, and Spigot support Bukkit plugins; Fabric, Forge, and NeoForge support their respective mods; Velocity, Waterfall, and BungeeCord are proxies; Mohist and Arclight are hybrid implementations with additional compatibility tradeoffs.

Choose software based on the content you need—not only its name or popularity.

Prepare for a version change

Changing software or downgrading a world can make existing data incompatible. Download a backup first and read the target software documentation. Never open a newer world in an older Minecraft release unless you are prepared to restore it.

Install and verify

  1. Stop the server and create a locked backup.
  2. Open Versions and select Browse beside the intended software.
  3. Choose the exact Minecraft/software build and confirm installation.
  4. Review Startup for the correct Java image or launch parameters.
  5. Start the server and watch Console through a complete boot.
  6. Verify plugins or mods and join before deleting the backup.
